Welcome to Golf Tourism Scotland

Welcome to the new Golf Tourism Scotland website that was unveiled for the first time on Thursday 5th November 2009 at the Annual General Meeting, held in a most appropriate setting overlooking the Ailsa Course at Turnberry Resort.

The 2009 season has been a tumultuous year for the golf tourism industry and that is reflected in my Chairman's Report, but for GTS it has meant increased focus and recognition that progress must be made.

Our new website reflects some of these needs and the ever evolving face of communciations on the internet.  The site remains fully driven by the membership.  Each member has their own pages and can now update contacts, content, news, events and even packages.  Members can also publish their own video footage and image galleries and with the new Virtual Caddy section the consumer can search for help in arranging their visit to Scotland.  We've created a separate page outlining the website updates.

The challenges facing Scottish Golf Tourism have arguably never been more stark, but 2010 marks the 150th anniversary of the very first Open Championship at Prestwick and, while there are commercial threats still to be faced, there are also opportunities.  We hope that the restructuring of the website will at the very least help to increase communication between members and inform potential visitors who may be planning a visit to our country.
